This Little Village spot isn’t your average Mexican restaurant. Sure, you'll find standard tacos, burritos and tortas on the menu. But sprinkled in among the usual Mexican suspects are some truly exotic options, including vibora de cascabel(fried rattlesnake), served in red or green sauce or sauteed in fresh garlic, as well as jabali (wild boar) and lagarto (alligator) prepared in the same manner. And if you look past the usual nachos and other expected appetizers, you’ll find angulas a la bilbaina, Spanish baby eels sauteed in fresh garlic and chile de arbol, and ancas de ran, fried or grilled frog legs. There are also plenty of steak, chicken and seafood standards, but if you’re looking for a walk on the wild side you won’t be disappointed.

This place is really nice. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted and had prompt service. The food was amazing, the carne asada was tender and flavorful. The tortillas made to order and live music is what sets this place apart from others. I will definitely be back and highly recommend!

First time trying Cordonis and it was very good, the green sauce was the best. Unfortunately my husband ordered cabrito and there was a long hair in there. They offered to replace it, but we just said no since he was almost done with the plate when the hair came out. They just need to be more careful when preparing food for others.

This place likes to recycle used salsa so beware!! Also, the waiter Jorge (bald guy) purposely made my table wait almost an hour for 2 omelettes and when we received them they were cold and the restaurant was not that busy. Disappointing service

Second time in this restaurant, 100% Mexican, very exotic and unique food service ok, choice for salsas medium to hot and extra hot!Desserts the best, my favorite: platanos Flameados, the best! And I took advantage and I already order my Turkey for Thanksgiving; to hey do have different packages and prices

I finally came to see what all the hype is about. I ordered a chicken plate that consisted of a piece of chicken stuffed with potato and in a sweet sauce. Everything was cold on the plate and the chicken was hard as if it was old. The lettuce in my salad that came with the dish was yellow. My husband ordered the skirt steak dinner and that was also cold. Not sure if I would come back and if I do it will only be for the corn tortillas that was the only thing appetizing to me.

Well, this was a total waste of a day. Was given a gift certificate to this place and we were hoping to have a nice dinner with the family for Father's Day. It takes us 110 minutes to get here. Hard as heck to find parking, you have to pay it park a couple of blocks away. We had to wait 35 minutes to be seated. Almost 40 minutes for the food. Got here at 6:45 and finally got done by 9:15. To finish off the night, they wouldn't take the gift certificate. According to them, I could only use it Monday to Thursday. Food was under seasoned. Tampiqueña comes with a sweet spicy enchilada which I really hated and not to mention the prices are ridiculous for the portions. Much better restaurants in the suburbs. Definitely first and last time we come. Il rather throw away the certificate than Comeback. Honestly, worse Father's Day dinner experience.

Food was delicious! I really recommend. The place is spotless! & they have live music. It can get busy but it's worth the wait. I will be coming back soon!

The dish I ordered was the tamarind chicken. It was a bit dry and the content was barely warm. Besides that, the rest of the food was delicious.

This is REAL authentic Mexican cuisine. The environment in the restaurant would make you believe you were in Mexico for sure. Staff is super attentive and polite. Prices are great considering the lengths this restaurant goes to show you the best service possible.

Great food and service!

Great food, great service. Prices are very reasonable. Their coffee has the Mexican cinnamon

The customer service, food, and price was bad. I ordered tacos and the meat was very salty and dry. They don't give you green limes at least to give it some flavor. The waitress was not attentive to our needs and was not friendly. They also charge a lot for the amount of food they give you. I don't recommend this place.

Treat you based upon looks! I run food operations downtown! Reach out and I'll show you real service! I'm embarrased of their service! I guess it's all about tip money!!!!

First time going for mother's day. Loved the exotic options! I had rattlesnake, dad had alligator. Even though it was busy the server didn't let it show and food came out promptly. Drinks were delicious. I am reccomending!

The food is delicious, there are live musicians that play traditional mexican music. The decor is all centered on mexican culture. Tight parking, call ahead to make reservations. Food ranges from mexican streetfood to seafood delicacies.

Very good spot for family outing. Parking lot is free and is 2 buildings down . Tables are roomy and spaced well. Service was ok. Tortillas were outstanding and made on site, strongly recommend. Steak was well cooked. Beans and rice were very good. Free salsa and warm tortilla chip. DONT ORDER THE FILET! Steak tacos great price come with onions and cilantro. I did not order any of the exotic stuff.

This is a family style Mexican restaurant. The place is not the trendiest place (a lafrontera grill, which is good BTW) but the food is authentic Mexican fare, the staff is friendly and helpful. The food is excellent and the prices moderate.

Great atmosphere, good food and variety, a bit cramped. The owner himself seated us and took our order, very down to earth guy. This place is known for serving exotic meats. Goat, crocodile, duck, etc. As such, prices are higher than your average restaurant but they're well worth it. The food was amazing, plenty of drink choices and large portions make it a great value. They had a live DJ when I came.

It is probably the best Traditional Mexican Food Experience in Chicago. Very cozy place. Probably not made for big parties. It has live music on Weekends.

Excellent service, parking lot available, you’ll find some exotic dishes in the menu that include rabbit, iguana, goat, and frog legs or typical dishes like enchiladas and chilaquiles etc Most menu items seem to be average of $12 and up Food was great (I had green chilaquiles). Tortillas were hand made and salsa spicy hot and made al molcajete.

Delicious! There was no wait Sunday around 1pm. The service was quick, the food came out within 10 minutes or so and all was reasonably priced. Will definitely go again.

I saw the reviews and it had more than 4 stars so I decided to call to make sure they had Mole Poblano, they do not but they do have Mole Guerrerense style. They have free parking a few doors down on the west side of the restaurant, easy to find. We walked over to the restaurant and we got seated right away, it was lunch time on friday so there was not a lot of people. They have music playing in the background in spanish, and a lady that is by the door is making hand made tortillas that are awesome. The place is spacious and it has plenty of seating. The menu has plenty of options and the prices are moderate. We got chips and warm salsa that was not too hot so it is good for most people. We got Horchata and Tamarindo water and both were tasty. As for the food, it was good, and if you like large portions this is the place to come to. The waitress was nice and friendly and came around to check on us plenty of times.

Worst mexican restaurant i have ever been too. Vegetables in rice was still frozen, steak fajitas had no flavor and no onions! Shrimp still had shell and tails mixed in chicken and shrimp fajitas. Lemonade was the best i ever drank though.
Rolla Torres
Wonderful food, of all sorts! Definitely authentic and savory! If you are touring in Chicago I definitely recommend this place as a must!

When ever I have a craving for exotic food, LA CASA DE SAMUEL is my #1 choice. Love The frog legs, it’s a must have for starters. My goal is to try everything in the menu, so far no regrets!Sometimes they do have slow service , I guess depends what day you go. But nice people
Rigoberto Aranda
Food is delicious and drinks too.
Xochitl Jaramillo
I really liked the food and the service but there's room for improvement in when it comes to the drinks. This place is definitely family oriented and the diverse menu has something for everyone.
